dse Report post Posted January 9, 2017 A Leupold VX-3 4.5-14 is the very minimum I will put on a hunting rifle.
Titanium700 Report post Posted January 9, 2017 I like the 3.5x10 better. To me it has better light gathering and I don't feel I've been ripped off by 4x less. As a matter of fact I used to shoot jackrabbits with a 2.5x8 at 600 yds and they are smaller than deer.
Couesdeer Report post Posted January 9, 2017 I have owned and used a few of each (one inch tubes, 40mm objectives). Both A/O and non A/O versions on the 4.5s. I still have the 3.5-10s and sold off the 4.5s. Mostly due to better eye relief, more forgiving eye positioning, and better FOV with the 3.5-10. I wouldn't feel handicapped running a 3.5-10 on my elk rifle.
Shooter McGavin Report post Posted January 9, 2017 There is a very nice Leupold V3 4.5-14x40 Boone & Crockett in the classified if I might say so myself, just saying. Only mounted to sight in the rifle. You won't be disappointed.
Stray Horse Report post Posted January 10, 2017 Thanks but I have one too.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted January 10, 2017 I'd choose the 3.5-10 for the better field of view on low power in the cedars or pines.
trphyhntr Report post Posted January 10, 2017 Whichever one you're more comfortable shooting far with
Stray Horse Report post Posted January 10, 2017 I like to shoot far with the 4.5, it's made me make some good shots. The 3.5 is more forgiving up close.
trphyhntr Report post Posted January 10, 2017 if it was an early hunt id say 3.5 but if its late youre probably going to be shooting 200+
Big or Bust Report post Posted January 10, 2017 The 4.4-14 Leupold does not have a friendly eye box nor is it as user friendly. The 3.5-10 is a much superior scope....
