I have been using a scent lock suit for 4 years, and I have no clue if it helps.

it's a waist of time and money. wear dark clothes and keep the wind in your favor. Lark.

It's funny, I can remember when I first started reading bowhunter magazine, there was always pics of Chuck Adams in blue jeans & flannel shirts (red & black or green & black). He stated numerous times that clothing only needed to break up the human outline, but that all changed with a Realtree endorsment. Guess if someone was willing to give me a check & free camos, I might take it too.

I always hear the story of how someone one time had the animall down wind of them, with the wind at there back blowing directly toward the animall, or how ever you want to state it. And the animall didn't smell them cause they had on sentlock or coverup sent or what ever. But I tell you this, I have hade the same situation COUNTLESS times and was not wearing anything to mask my sent with the same outcome. It is not what you are wearing it is because somewhere between you and that animall the wind curents took your sent elsewhere and you lucked out! .

You can not fool their nose! You know you cant hide your sent 100% so it does not matter. There are already a million cover up sents in the woods and they can still pick you out with ease! They can tell what you are where you are if you are still there or how long ago you were there. I do belive spreading around some sent for an attractant is good but not to depend on as a coverup.

Sentlock, .... Nice thought ;) I guess if you truly belive it makes you a better hunter then it is working to help you get the job done by instilling confidence. So go for it!

Back in the early 1990s, I was invited to bowhunt deer near Roger's City in Michigan. When I accepted, I had no idea what was to come. But...I was cracking up while driving north from the Detroit area at all the signs along the road. You could buy deer bait -- sugar beets or corn by the bag or truck-full -- with you-load or we-load prices. It appeared as if selling bait for deer was big business.

When I got to my destination, I was told we HAD to hunt over either a pile of sugar beets or a solar-powered corn feeder. And because there were several of us hunting the same private property, roaming was out of the question. That pretty much chilled my enthusiasm, but since I drove that many miles, I went along with the program.

My stand was a little shed with a roof on it that appeared to be built for a gun hunter. The shooting window was about 2' tall and 4' wide, but to draw my bow, I literally had to stoop down or the upper bow limb would hit the ceiling.

The corn feeder was hanging from a branch about 15 yards from the base of the stand. It was set to go off once in the early a.m. and once in late afternoon. When it did, it made a gentle whirring sound as the little disk spun to spread corn in a 10' circle. Not surprisingly, critters were moving in even before the thing went off. They had likely made notations on their agendas.

The usual array -- all feeding at the same time -- included several deer, a few wild turkeys, porcupines, raccoons and black squirrels. It was fun watching all the smaller creatures scurrying about under & around the larger deer as they battled to eat the corn.

Anyway, getting to the point. One day while I was sitting watching the circus, I had two does, both with twin fawns, under the feeder with an assortment of the other critters milling about. While I watched with the window latched up, I lit a cigarette. When I exhaled my first puff, I noticed the smoke gently wafted out the window and moved right toward the feeder. So I decided to do more of a test by inhaling deeply and immediately blowing clouds of smoke out the window. I could see it was all getting to the feeder, too. Not one creature lifted it head or stopped eating.

I also figured if the smoke went in that direction, my scent probably was blowing there too. If so, it was little concern. -TONY

I've been winded when i thought the wind was in my favor, and havnt been winded when it was rifling right at them. so i dunno just good or bad luck i guess but i'd rather not have to worry as much on relying on a suit when i could just keep the wind in my face
