GreyGhost85 Report post Posted January 6, 2017 i shot 130 sciroccos out of my last .264. loved them, but they are getting really hard to find and are double the price of most other bullets. i ordered a box of 143 eld-x and 130 eld match today along with 100 pieces of Norma brass. hoping the 143's shoot well, if not, i know i'll be able to get the 130's to shoot
dse Report post Posted January 6, 2017 I've seen them at Sportsman's in Mesa, Phx,& Prescott within the last month. I usually get them from Midway. They are a little pricey but they get the job done every shot. All the ELD-X's I've shot have liked being loaded with .005 jump.
cohofishing Report post Posted January 7, 2017 I have been loading Court's 264 win mag for a while. Court's newest redo has a 26" brux 1-8 barrel and I have been loading 143's eld-x with 58.3 H1000 and CCI 250 primers. Her gun like those bullets with a 0.020 jump and I get 2800 fps at the barrel. I have used H1000 for 140 berger and Amax with good results. I have been loading 130's with h4831 and h4350. Gun likes 130 nosler accubonds with the h4831. Her old barrel was a 1-9 and I loaded 120's with IMR4350 Here's the 143's Court's November buck shot with her 264 with 143's
GreyGhost85 Report post Posted January 7, 2017 ^ pretty similar to what i was thinking. You're only getting 2,800 out of the 143's? Seems really slow. I would think you should easily be doing 3,100+? Shot 130's out of my last .264 @ 3,300. Nice rifle btw. Looks like a real shooter
cohofishing Report post Posted January 7, 2017 That is what the chronograph said. Shot and verified out to 680 yards. She shoots a two inch group at 500 yards with that load. The hornady book shows 2800 with 60.3 grains with their test gun. I am sure you can get to go faster. At the time, it was hard to find those bullets and I was happy with those results. If you want to test the Nosler 142 accubonds LR or the 129's, I have a couple of boxes of each. Brent
azslim Report post Posted January 8, 2017 glad to see this post, I'm putting a 264 together. The 264wm didn't take off because not long after it came out Rem came out with the 7mm and people liked that they could get heavier bullets for it and not give up much in velocity and there was never a big selection of bullets for the 264, that and it had the reputation of being a barrel burner, whether deserved or not. bmf1321 Report post Posted January 9, 2017 If it were me I would start with the 130 gr Swift Scirocco over a healthy dose of RL-22. +1 on this. But 130 grain accubonds instead of swifts.
archery bank Report post Posted January 9, 2017 I have a Sako L6R1 that I replaced the barrel with a Brux 8 twist. I used Retumbo with the berger 140 hybids. Velocity is 3050fps.
