G and F home page, click on hunting, then draw and bonus point reports. Shows hunt number data with all hunters who put in with 0-max bonus points, how many were drawn in each group, etc. Tons of data, but seems to contradict what others are saying about data put out by hunter's trailhead

I think hunters trailhead is wrong. They show 22 applicants with 11 BP applied and all were drawn

Looks like you are getting lots of info (and opinions) here! Keep in mind that lightning CAN strike! I was lucky enough to draw a Unit 1 archery bull tag last year with only one bonus point (hunter ed point). I can happen!

There is always a chance you may get lucky and draw a tag outside of the bonus pass, but that's pure LUCK!

Honestly, I have never paid much attention to odds with BP. And things have been pretty good to me. In the last 6 years I have drawn 4 archery bull tags and filled 3 of them. The 4th should have been filled also but I screwed up lots of opportunities! Have had 3 antelope tags since 2007. Drew a strip tag with 2 or 3 bonus points. Is it luck? Heck if I know? But I won't complain! Keep them coming!

Well you did say LEAST desirable, and those do take fewer than 8.

 

I mean technically I think 28, 31 and 32 might be less desirable.

At least for residents, the bonus pass also is less than 8 for units like 8 and 7E.

That being said, I think everyone should hold out for "Premier" units. Although I am not sure where that is anymore. If you listen to Jay Scott, 9 is no good, 10 is shot out, 1 has too many tags. I guess Everyone just has to wait for 23N.

Stop it. Everyone keep applying for 9, 10, and 1 they are the best and all the big elk live there. I promise.

Sorry, just trying to help people out if they read that. I'm not arguing semantics, just that are plenty of good tags being drawn with less than 8 points in the bonus pass pool. I will keep my mouth shut from now on.
