Willyhunts2 Report post Posted December 26, 2016 Trying to decide between a hunter in 280 ackley improved or a montana in 270 WSM. Leaning towards the short mag. Input?
dse Report post Posted December 26, 2016 Either one will not disappoint. I've used the 270 Wsm for the last 7 years running the 130 Swift Scirocco @ 3475 fps. It's taken a half dozen coues between 300 and 700 yds, a lion @ 650, and a elk @ 400. Non have needed a second shot. I've shot half moa groups @1200 yds. Couzer Report post Posted December 26, 2016 6.5 Creedmoor But if I had to choose between the 2 I would go 280 AI all the way

Will K Report post Posted December 28, 2016 270WSM or 300WSM
Red Rabbit Report post Posted December 30, 2016 Between the two, I would choose the 270WSM in the Montana, vs the Hunter composite stock with DBM and molded trigger guard. Ballistically, the 270WSM will have a slight edge but not that the critter will tell the difference.
Shooter McGavin Report post Posted December 30, 2016 Absolutely love my Kimber Classic 8400 270wsm wood stock, awesome caliber for sure. I don't load my own ammo, eventually one day I will, but it really likes the Winchester Ballistic Silvertips 150 Gr. Killed pigs, yotes, muley/Wt and elk.
