ready2hunt Report post Posted December 21, 2016 oh and just as many archery bull tags as the general rifle bull tags in 6A as well, 700 and 700. FML. I know in the 5 year plan they were trying to reduce the # of elk to help the deer population but DANG it's a circus up there for the archery and the Late hunt. 4k tags through the season. Getting out of control.
bonecollector777 Report post Posted December 21, 2016 Looks like they moved the late bull hunts back to a week after thanksgiving. Dec1-7 nowAll hunts were moved back a week due to how it fell on the calendar.
GreyGhost85 Report post Posted December 21, 2016 I'm not a fan of the late hunts being later. Day after thanksgiving is nice because you always get Thursday and Friday off with holiday pay and don't have to burn the extra PTO.
Hoss50 Report post Posted December 21, 2016 It sucks moving the late cow hunts back to just before Christmas too. It is hard to take the hunt off, and then want to take extra time off at the holidays which are only a week or so later.
bonecollector777 Report post Posted December 22, 2016 They have hunts smashed into every week nowadays so when something gets changed in early September it changes everything all the way down the line.
Flatlander Report post Posted December 22, 2016 Well everything bumps back a week this year because of the calendar. Archery always starts on the 37th Friday of the year I believe, last year that was very early in the calendar and now because the year starts on a Sunday, it's much later. Late rifle bull is the 49th Friday, which this year happens to be in December and next year will be Nov 30. Where thanksgiving falls is unrelated to the hunt. So the good thing is that all the early archery hunts are the latest they are going to be for 7 more years. The bad news is that our December archery season and December whitetail hunts will be shortened by almost a week.
