I know in the 5 year plan they were trying to reduce the # of elk to help the deer population but DANG it's a circus up there for the archery and the Late hunt. 4k tags through the season. Getting out of control.

I'm not a fan of the late hunts being later. Day after thanksgiving is nice because you always get Thursday and Friday off with holiday pay and don't have to burn the extra PTO.

It sucks moving the late cow hunts back to just before Christmas too. It is hard to take the hunt off, and then want to take extra time off at the holidays which are only a week or so later.

Well everything bumps back a week this year because of the calendar. Archery always starts on the 37th Friday of the year I believe, last year that was very early in the calendar and now because the year starts on a Sunday, it's much later.

Late rifle bull is the 49th Friday, which this year happens to be in December and next year will be Nov 30. Where thanksgiving falls is unrelated to the hunt.

So the good thing is that all the early archery hunts are the latest they are going to be for 7 more years. The bad news is that our December archery season and December whitetail hunts will be shortened by almost a week.
