Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted December 21, 2016 I know this may be strange to many of you but I am proud of this kid and what he is doing right now...... Cole has been on his mission now for 6 months and has had such a wide variety of experiences. We missed him this deer season and sure have missed getting to watch him wrestling. Thought I would share some of the photos he has sent, what a great learning experience this has been up to this point. And then it got cold. And finally Merry Christmas to all CWT friends and family........may you and your families be safe and able to enjoy the Christmas season and may God bless all of you!

AZbowhntr Report post Posted December 21, 2016 That looks awesome. A guy that works for me has a son out right now in Chicago on a Spanish speaking mission. Be thankful where your son is. Hopefully you guys get to Skype instead of just talking on the phone.

Every day we are thankful, Chicago sounds rough......this will be the first of our boys that we get to skype with, the other three were phone calls and trust me....the phone call was pretty dang fun too......looking very forward to getting to visit with him on Sunday.....2:00 Michigan time........I am ditching church!!!

Basic rules is they get to call home on Christmas and Mothers Day, other than that it is all letters and email. Just the way it is set up.......

That has to be tough, especially for parents. Can he ask for permission to call more frequently? They can ask but it really doesn't fit into what they want........serious cut the apron strings experience and when you sign up you go into it knowing that is the way it will be. It isn't as easy as it is cracked up to be but most survive, some don't. On email Mondays we go back and forth for about 45 minutes via email and it is kinda like visiting with them. My wife writes a big honking letter to him once a week on paper old school, and he sends a respectably large letter once a week on paper. Every one of my boys has been different, some really short letters(not a happy mom) and some good two pagers!!! The one thing that has really changed with this last one for us is we get a random text message with a picture of Cole from somebody in his area........he we ran into your son and he is doing great!!!! Melts the heart!!!! By the way....today(Thursday) is get the old school letter in the mail....gotta run check it right now!!!

bigorange Report post Posted December 22, 2016 Really cool. Thanks for sharing. I was not aware of the no phone calls thing, but it does make sense with the intent of the mission. One of my good work friends has a son on mission in Argentina (I think...definitely South America) right now.
