206 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 It all starts with the confirmation of a tag drawn. I have recently changed jobs and it allows me a few days to Hunt archery now. Before that I had to hunt the late draw. I have filled many late tags but enjoy the rut. So I had one day of work and had to get home. Working in the agriculture industry it tough to get time off in September. Scouted several timein the area and my good friend Jay watched and hunted these elk during the previous cow hunt. After a mile walk in, I spotted this bulk cutting cows away from the herd bull After a blown encounter on a wide sweep left by a rogue bunch of cows I regrouped And got in between the herd bull and this bull. After watching him rake a tree I made my move to 42 yards and put it behind the shoulders. The single bevel broad head cut a huge swath and he did not go 50 yards. Thanks again to Lance Crowther and Cory Mellon for the pack out help.
