vortex tripod adapter

Recommended Posts

My wife's son stripped out the mounting hole in her Kaibabs trying to keep the Vortex adapter tight. The factory adapter is worthless IMO. I had an extra Zeiss adapter but it is too wide to work not allowing the binos to fold in so she can see through them.

I am going to buy a different adapter but was wanting to know what would work well. Any suggestions?

vortex adapter has been by far my favorite im surprised you don't like it, nothing wrong with outdoorsman's just think their prices are very steep

I use the Vortex Uni-dapter. I like it and its super quick to get set up with my 15s. I've been looking into getting myself an outdoorsmans adapter next time I head up to the valley though.

Why don't you send it into Vortex for repair? Their faultless warranty is the best thing about Vortex. Get it fixed, then get an Outdoorsmans setup.

Will the outdoorsman work on any bino? Can they drill and tap the zeiss that has no threaded hole?

They will work on just about any bino. Ones that don't have thread holes will usually get sent to their machinist to drill and mount. That is what they do with the Swaro EL line up. I had them do mine first thing after I got them.

Just got her new ones back last week.

I am not impressed with the adapter she has now. Think you guys have sold me on the Outdoorsman. Thanks to all for the input!

If you ever run into that problem on something you can't warranty there is a piece of hardware to repair it. A screw thread insert, often called a heli-coil. You Drill out the hole a little larger, Tap it then screw in a insert. Chose the insert set with a matching internal thread as the original ones. You have new threads. I have repaired all kinds if things with them. Sucks to scrap an expensive item over a stripped thread.
