creed_az_88 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 Sierra 100 gr spitzers is what I've stuck with out of mine. No issues what so ever and I can get them whenever I want. My wife shot her mule deer this year with a 100 grain Sierra pro hunter. The bullet hit the very back soft cartilage part of the shoulder blade and blew up. None of the bullet made it into the vitals. Fortunately some of the bullet fragments made it into the spinal cord and put the deer down. The shot was at 160 yards out of her 243. Just thought id share our only experience with the Sierras. We'll be trying the 95 grain ballistic tips next due to their supposed thicker jacket design. Why not go with a bonded bullet like Accubond, or monometal, TTSX or gmx?To be honest with you, the biggest reason is price. I'm all about paying for the best If it's necessary, and we had decided that the accubond was gonna be our next choice but I came across some interesting reads about the 95 grain ballistic tips and how they were designed with a thicker jacket wall than most other similar 6mm bullets. I have yet to read of one in that particular weight failing and most of what I've read suggest that people almost always get an exit. I don't quite trust the monometals yet. Call me paranoid I guess but I've read about too many bullet failures from the monometals, although I've read about way more success than failures. Maybe I'm relying on Internet research a little too much... Since it was from Internet research that I determined a Sierra pro hunter was a good choice in the first place haha. Now you got me thinking. P. S., sorry for hijacking the thread o. P.
