Couzer Report post Posted December 14, 2016 The aisin is a good deal but we probably have a dozen 3500s with the 68rfe that commonly roll up the road weighing around 40,000 lbs. On any given day any truck of any brand can have have an issue with any part of the truck. My last 4 trucks have all had the 68RFE with no issues what so ever. So I'm not speaking of one being better than the other, that we will have to see. But I do know that bigger clutch packs, bigger shafts and a stronger transmission should equate better odds when pulling. One thing i have noticed on the drive back from Idaho, is it shifts different than the 68RFE. Feels like it is working a little less harder to deliver the same power to the wheels and you really don't feel it shift. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Lucafu1 Report post Posted December 23, 2016 Yup those aisin trannys are super expensive. every part of them (even the pan!). we had one at work crack the case. tried to save it by throwing parts at it. saved a little bit of money but the cost was just ridiculous.
