AzDiamondHeat Report post Posted November 23, 2016 I have never stepped foot in 6b and agreed to help a young friend with his December cow hunt. For you 6b guys, how are the roads? Can I get my trailer in there or should I plan on leaving it at home? I think he plans on taking the 535 in past the power line and camping back off the 538 somewhere. Any help is appreciated. IA Born Report post Posted November 23, 2016 If you're taking the 535 off of 89A, it can be tricky and rough in spots if the weather gets wet. A better way would be to take Woody Mt Road (231) to the junction with 538. 231 is almost always in good condition. Some of the back roads can be pretty tricky with moisture, but you are usually good with a camper within 1/2- to 1-mile from the 231. Of course, if the weather stays on the current course, all roads should be pretty good throughout the unit. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Tac Report post Posted November 23, 2016 Was there three years ago and had 18 inches of snow and ice. Used chains on all four truck wheels and mad it in and out with 30 foot toy hauler. Plenty of camp spots on the 535. dont take the camper past the "T" at the end of 535. Those roads are good now even with the rain we just got. CATERPILLAR Report post Posted November 28, 2016 its snowing now, you should be able to still be able to make it down woody mountain to 535 with no problems. the "T" I am talking about is when you head east from 231 on the 535, its not really the end of 535 as 535 will continue south to fry park. when the road heads south you should stop if your pulling a camper. Just at the change of direction from mostly east to south on the 535 is good camp spot that will fit a couple of campers. I would not try to pull a camper to 538 even though it is fairly good since they just logged some areas back there. the drive is short from anywhere on 535 to wherever you decide to hunt @ the 538 rd. just get up a little earlier and go get some elk.
