Hoss50 Report post Posted November 17, 2016 What is the biggest tall tale anyone has ever tried to pass off on you about hunting? The biggest one I have ever heard happened when I was working retail gun sales. 2 guys were in my shop talking and one proceeded to tell me about the cow elk he just harvested with his bow. He made a 120 yard shot on a cow elk with his bow which really raised my eyebrows and got my bullcrap meter cranked up. Then he proceeds to tell me the cow elk was 1200lbs. The bullcrap meter went into overdrive and exploded on the redline. It was hard to not laugh out loud when he dropped this gem on me. Harley

TexasHunter Report post Posted November 18, 2016 heard a guy at the range talking about how he didn't need a scope on his gun because he can shoot out to 1000 open sight no problem. The best part was he was one of the so called instructors for beginners.

The best part was he was one of the so called instructors for beginners. Technically, he probably wasn't lying. He didn't mention anything about actually hitting a target did he?

muledeerarea33? Report post Posted November 18, 2016 A guy told me he could shoot a bow 300 yards and knock the heads of sparrows with a 22 from 1000 yards and he was dead serious. my dad was picking the side of the birds head he'd hit. Dead tree 120 yards out with an ar-15 I built him. Not sure if he had 10 lucky shots or if he is just that good. A guy told me he shot a deer off the road one time. The road was thru a mountain cut, said the deer fell off the cut and landed in the bed of the truck.
Zeke-BE Report post Posted November 18, 2016 A guy told me he could shoot a bow 300 yards and knock the heads of sparrows with a 22 from 1000 yards and he was dead serious. I did a quick math on the 1000 yard. -2500 inchs. That means he is holding it over 208 feet. That gun is probably at 35 degree angle!!!
452b264 Report post Posted November 18, 2016 Had a guy tell me he could hit a deer at 600 yds first shot even if it was running, I ask him how his rifle was sighted in, he stated 2 inchs high at 100 with a 3x9 scope. When I left the house that day something told me to bring the hip waders.

dmoto Report post Posted November 18, 2016 Not necessarily hunting.....but at every bass tourney, it seems there's always a guy talking about dumping an 8 right at the boat with about 5 min to go until check-in. Almost died laughing when I heard that at some charity tournament at Bartlett a few years back.

Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted November 18, 2016 So this was back in the in the day........spotlighting jackrabbits at the bottom of cotton fields using high powered rifles with scopes out in the middle of nowhere New Mexico. One of the few things to do in nowhere New Mexico, pretty popular and the farmers didn't mind cause it was the rabbits eating the cotton........not just a couple.....hundreds. We have the eyes of a for sure jack in the light, probably 300 yards out.....one shot.....dust flies up.......eyes still sitting there.....another shot flies......dust clears.....eyes still sitting there......multiple attempts at this bugger with still the same results, Drive up closer.......shots fired again........finally one of the kids jumps out of the truck to run up to the stubborn rabbit only to find out it was a tarantula!!! Crazy story for sure!!!
