.22 Ammo Shortage Easing Already?

Recommended Posts

I just saw the Black Friday ad from Dick's. They will have 325 round boxes of .22 LR at 2 boxes for $35 - so that's 650 rounds for $35.

Guys that were advertising it on Backpage for $50/brick are now trying to move it for $40 and under.

With the election of Trump, hopefully the artificial shortage will end and regular retail prices (like $24/brick at Walmart) are close at hand. I expect some of the hoarders that were jacking up the prices put mayonnaise on it and eat it so kids can shoot again at will.

I watch this very closely, as I shoot rimfire quite a bit. 22lr has been coming back over the last 6-8 months. 2-3 weeks before the election prices started to creep up a bit. It's a cent or more per round up right now than it was at its most recent low. The holiday prices and election drama going away will help the prices in the next few months.

Walmart has been the cheapest for 22lr for a long time but unfortunately have been raising their prices a smidgen over the last few months. They are still one of the cheapest though.
