5A late rifke hunt

Recommended Posts

There are plenty of elk in the unit. Nov. is a dry time of year. Focus your first day checking water holes in the cedars. You'll find elk.

Find water hole with tracks, follow tracks, shoot elk. Pretty much how this one works. But with all the bluebird weather we have been having, there will still be tons of elk in the pines so check there too.

Working on the new friends part. Thanks for The advice about the cedars. With it being so dry it's hard to see tracks. I was up there two weeks ago and the roads were pretty bad getting back in there. We shall see. I appreciate it and thanks!

You better get up this this weekend and put some miles on your boots. Get a good map too. There is a lot of private property in 5A, which can make the unit frustrating if you don't know where you're going. There are a lot of elk in the unit, but they can be elusive.
