Stand and Fight or Stand to Lose!"

Recommended Posts

I got to spend time with Randy Newberg last year for a week in northern New Mexico. There's NO bigger advocate for keeping public lands public than Randy. Pay attention to his words --- then communicate with your elected officials!!!

Open spaces under attack! Nevada will sell it off as needed. Probably in big chunks so only corporations & developers can play the game (gotta keep the riff-raff out).

This bill (if passed into law) would likely pave the way for other states with vast amounts of Federal land to pursue land transfers.

Unfortunately, our population is exploding, Federal public land will be the only open space in a few more generations. We need to protect it for

our great grandchildren. Contact your representatives.

What do you think about contacting the NRA? I have a sneaking suspicion that this could be a double edge sword of victory for them. I also have a sneaking suspicion they might have some capital free up here soon.

Can someone on here with more skill than I possess create a contact list for public access to our elected members of the legislature?

Because of the Federal Hatch Act and my status as a Federal Agent/employee, I cannot lobby my congressmen for anything. On my behalf, PLEASE speak far and wide because, working in Federal land/wildlife management, this is a very real threat now.

I'm really glad that we get the chance to see what is going on. I appreciate what you have brought up, but let's define what we can do to fight it effectively.

Notice how they say that they won't sell off the land in Nevada and then turn around and admit they are going to sell like 22% of the states federal public lands to afford the administrative costs of land transfers? The administrative and maintenance costs will not disappear after the first year. Year after year, costs of administration and maintenance of public lands will supercede revenues requiring future sales. This has been well documented by Republican led investigations into the issue as it pertains to Utah. Utah will be next followed by Arizona, Wyoming and Idaho. In Montana, the Governor ran on a platform of resisting the sell of public lands so this issue has been debated there. In regards to this issue, in Arizona, crickets. All the while the mainstream media intentionally ignores this activity? Can you say Wall Street?

This could set off conflicts in the West that aren't yet in the scope of the existing debate, but just think about it's impact on Water Rights in the West for one.

The Hatch Act only prevents you from lobbying on duty or using your official capacity to advance an agenda. I'm pretty sure you still have your rights of assembly and speech on your own time and acting in your own capacity.

Every election cycle, we get the official Hatch Act reminders and it always reads that we cannot lobby for or against any piece of legislation and its always been explained to me that it applies to outside of duty hours. I could be wrong (would love to be), but its a grey area I've avoided. You give up certain civil liberties as a trade off for a secure job and good pay/benefits. Besides, I have my other sources that do enough lobbying for me!
