dabersold Report post Posted November 15, 2016 I'm looking to hunt coues in the next couple years. I live in northern California and know the Trinity Apls wilderness pretty well. I kill my buck almost every year there and would like to swap a week long backpack hunt there for a coues deer hunt. (doesn't have to be a backpack hunt) I have no points built up in any of the Couse hunting states so I would need to be able to draw with no points, or buy a leftover tag, but know nothing about how possible that is to do. Here you can get a tag over the counter for blacktails. Let me know if you think we could work something out. Thanks, Darren
mattys281 Report post Posted November 15, 2016 Welcome to the site darren. If you bowhunt, that tag is over the counter. I have no idea what drawing odds are like for a nonres hunter, but it is definetely doable. Theres a couple guys on this forum that come from out of state. TexasHunter Report post Posted November 16, 2016 there are some units here that have left over tags that actually have some decent deer and country. The trade off is that the success rates are much lower.
