Awesome trip. I've gotta do one like that. Congrats

Now that you're a neighbor, we can do some packing clinics out your house.

Sounds like fun. I remember when I was about 10 or 11 my uncle set up his 760 and an army can of surplus ammo. He told me to shoot until I was tired or out of ammo. I think about 40 rounds later I was done, it didn't have a recoil pad either but then again do you really need one on an '06?

I used to do sets of 25 dips with a 25 lb late on my legs. My shoulders are somewhat solid. 40 rounds from a 30.06 with a metal butt plate sounds terrible. Maybe just me.

My previous rifle predated recoil pads too. It was a 1917 Winchester improved to .300 H/H. First time I shot that it was about 25'F out and I thought I burst a bursa sac.

Wish I were 25-30 years younger. Your photos brought back all the great times I had hunting off my horse and mule.

Bill Quimby

Thanks Bill, Im going on 35 years hunting from horseback. It's a great way to get into the backcountry and take all the luxuries with but it's also expensive and a heck of a lot of work. Seems like every time you think you can sit down and catch your breath, the beasts make a new demand of you.

The old days can still be had if you are determined and able - great write up of a fun hunt - well a successful hunt

fun may not have been the right word! too much work involved - lol but you got it done!
