Camofreak Report post Posted November 6, 2016 What do you guys think about the new Kimber Hunter rifle? Anyone have experience with it? Anyone played with it?
Camofreak Report post Posted November 14, 2016 Well....I decided to bite the bullet and pick one of these up, just because the weight savings, I was looking to get a pack gun that wouldn't hinder me too much. I went out to shoot it today and was fairly impressed. My first group after I brought my shots up 6" was sub half MOA. I was shooting loads I previously made from my other 65CM. Sour I was happy with that. The gun will get a muzzle break but other than that it shot great.
CatfishKev Report post Posted November 14, 2016 That's pretty Impressive for a stock $800 gun. I was looking at savage and tikka to replace my stolen 30-06 but might go this route instead.
Camofreak Report post Posted November 14, 2016 What caliber you looking for? Can't beat a Tikka, I love ours, if this kimber keeps it up I'll like it just as much.
CatfishKev Report post Posted November 14, 2016 I'm on the fence still with the caliber. I want one good all around one for elk and deer.
longshooter Report post Posted November 14, 2016 Kimbers are great off the shelf guns . Accurate , light and built good. I just recently picked up a kimber mountain accent in 300 wsm and getting ready to mount the scope and work up a load.

singleshot Report post Posted November 14, 2016 I had been drooling over The Kimber Ascents on the web for awhile now. I finally held one at the Sportsman's in Glendale on Saturday. The rifle was chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I thought that the action was pretty sloppy, quite a bit of side to side movement and "slop". It felt kind of tinny and Toy -ish. The muzzle brake was stamped .270 even though the barrel was clearly stamped 6.5 Creedmoor. I asked the counter boys about it and they shrugged thier shoulders and put it back on the shelf. They also had a rack full of Legendary Arms Works rifles at basically the same price. They are a little heavier but overall I was much more impressed with the smoothness of the action, and feel of the rifle. Any Idea why the muzzle brake would be stamped .270 in a 6.5 chambering? Factory defect?
Camofreak Report post Posted November 14, 2016 I thought that action had the full length guide? Mine does atleast. Mine didn't seem very smooth until I lubed it up,then it got pretty darn nice. The 6.5 is a .264, so that's why they probably used a .270 break.
