DotShot Report post Posted September 17, 2007 I headed up to Camp Navajo near Bellemont last thursday in pursuit of my first elk with a bow. I was fortunate enough to take this cow on Saturday morning at around 0610. The shot as you can see was just a tad far back but the angle she was at allowed for a liver/lung shot. The arrow did not pass all the way through which made for a less than stellar blood trail, had i not seen that the arrow was still in her after the shot and decided to slowly trail her as she moved away i probably would have had a heck of a time finding her. Anyhow, as this is my first elk with a bow i can safely state that i will probably never hunt elk with a rifle again!

DotShot Report post Posted September 17, 2007 Great job! Nothing like ground checking an elk. BTW what broad head were you using and how far of a poke was it? I was using a 3 blade Muzzy 100gr at a distance of 58.5 yards, my only guess as to why it did not pass completely through was the distance coupled with hitting a rib on entry and a rib on exit.
