GRONG Report post Posted September 20, 2007 Standing next to you Darren I feel 4'2". Chris, you're a doofus. Kill a bull already would ya? Don't give me this I've had a cold for the past 15 years crap either. Heck you killed a dang nice bull last year so you got nothing to worry about.
Redbeard Report post Posted September 20, 2007 I have managed to stay out of the hospital etc. Maybe you should come guide me. I'm heading back out tomorrow afternoon to try and find the big one I missed the other day.
GRONG Report post Posted September 20, 2007 MISSED?!?!?! And you call yourself a hunter? heck I don't miss...... Well ok, the 2nd shot I took on my bull I did miss but he was running. However, the first one was enough to finish the job.
Redbeard Report post Posted September 20, 2007 Oh, don't get me started on your shooting skills! You don't want everybody to know about that! Looks like you hit your bull a little high by the way. My excuse is shooting a stinking wheelbow. For some reason it was shooting a foot low all of a sudden. Of course I wouldn't have even had a shot if I was using my longbow. I just wussed out and decided on a limited opportunity hunt I might want to increase by effective range by 20 yards with the compound. So far it hasn't helped though. I'm sneaking away from work in one minute to head out. I'm gonna get one this weekend. Heck, with this any elk tag I'd shoot a cow if I ever saw one. later, cjd
GRONG Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Ok listen, I've killed 4 animals with a bow so far, all of them with only one shot (other than my 5 arrow fiasco last Dec). My shot was high on this bull cause I thought he was around 20 yards out when he was actually around 13 yards. But hey, it still did the job and he died w/in 45 seconds. What more could you ask for. All I can say is the 2" wide cut on those 2 blade Rage broadheads did the deal!! Those things are UNREAL!!!!! heck, on my Dec buck they went thru one thigh, cut one of his balls in half and then passed out the opposite thigh. Awesome!! Hahahahaha! Ok ok, I'm not laughing cause that one hurt me too when I realized what happened. So anyway, if you've got any other shooting debaucles that I can't remember, feel free to share....... jgabler Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I know that it isn't completely the same as having your own cape on the bull, but I would give it real consideration to go into a taxidermist shop to see what kind of capes have been turned in if you want to get him mounted. There are several people who turn capes in that don't get theirs mounted.
GRONG Report post Posted September 22, 2007 Ya thanks man. My friend Chris Massey from Flagstaff just killed a nice bull a couple nights ago and is deciding on mounting it or not. If he doesn't he'll get it to me. My feelers are out there.

cramerhunts Report post Posted September 23, 2007 Hey congrats on getting the job done on a beautiful bull Josh. Jim and I were wondering how you were doing while we were pounding the ground up north. I got home late last night and Jim was still holding out. Congrats again on a great bull! Redbeard Report post Posted September 24, 2007 He who is without sin may cast the first stone. You asked for it. How quickly we forget. Remember that time I was guiding those guys in 33 on a rifle coues hunt and we heard this guy shoot TEN times! Turns out it was you! I videoed you missing your first coues deer with a bow at 25 yards. Remember you hit and lost two bulls on your unit 8 hunt in the mid 90's. I know there must have been some other misses I forgot about. You said yourself your form is so bad you can't shoot fixed blade broadheads. Like I said you don't want me to get started on your shooting skills. I'm not saying I'm any better but you took the first shot at me in this thread. One thing I know for sure is that Janice (my wife) is a better shot with a gun than both of us. She has three big animals and all were dumped with one shot.
