oak always due to the food source.

It all matters on weather and pressure. I wouldn't exclude either from my scouting.

 

Edit: I read "big deer", not "bigger numbers". Bigger numbers in oaks. Big deer in both.

I hunt in oaks more then pines, So. Az, seen big Coues bucks in both places... but more numbers in the oaks...

Scout/hunt the Does, they will show you the current travel zones/pathways to food/water/cover...
