Ranging question

Recommended Posts

Explains the two options again? I have a 1600 b Leica and all I do is put in the yards and add the degree in the app. That's good, enough right??!! What's the angle options?

for the 1600B make sure you have the ballistic data off if you are using an app. you do not want it reading the EHR (equivalent horizontal range) and then entering the angle in your app... you maybe double correcting (the 1600B will be correcting and the app will be correcting)- use one or the other BUT NOT BOTH. Also if you are using an APP make sure no other ballistic calculations are being determined by the 1600B. The 1600B was probably designed to not use an app.

double tab the secondary button- if it reads anything other than US- then you want to turn off all ballistic settings so you are using line of sight (LOS) and then enter the angle calculated from the 1600B into the app.

please confirm what i said is accurate (any other 1600B users)

Thats what i've read and im only doing the line of sight and adding the degrees to the shooter app. But from what I've read the angle shots on the 1600B is just a chart it has loaded up to use. So you need to pick the one closes to it. Well at to 600 yards variables can change big time. Maybe not 400 yards. Even shooting 400 yards 15 degrees its not enough to change impact on a deer. I have shot out to 1000 yards at a 8 degree hill. I think it was really only about a couple of inches off. But shooting at 20-30 degrees you will shoot over its back. Ive read elsewhere that you will never get true exact shots using angle because the math comes out wrong (close but wrong). You need exact line of sight and exact degree. (from what Ive read, I would love see to others input on this)

Does the Sig 2000 range finder have a better angle shooting program??
