TOBY Report post Posted October 24, 2016 They diverted traffic back to prescott and down To Wickenburg. Those roads are not equipped for that kind of volume, and at the obvious choke points there was no traffic control to even attempt to make it better. Not one, not two, but three roundabouts....with more to come..
mattys281 Report post Posted October 24, 2016 Half the people on the road drive like maroons. That's the bottom line. No courtesy whatsoever. Me me me. Can you just imagine how many fights would break out if people acted the way they do on the road all the time, like say in the grocery store for example? Someone sees you're about to get in the check out line, so they run past you to get in front of you? Everyone pulls a bonehead move in their car once in a while, but I honestly dont get why so many seemingly nice people turn into complete aholes the minute their car starts. Theres no way theyd have the stones to act that way in person.
IA Born Report post Posted October 24, 2016 Great traffic enforcement in December when no one is up north...... When that first snowfall hits here in Flag, there will be plenty of people up north, and they drive just as horrible. Every single weekend until the ski slopes close. Its just as bad. We were driving north from a soccer tournament and saw the aftermath of the semi wreck. I was very thankful that we were heading north and not south. I genuinely felt bad for those stuck southbound. Then, just south of Flagstaff, there was another one, with a truck laying on its side in the median. It didn't look good. I touched the Rosary Beads my wife has hanging from her review mirror and said a quick "Thank you!" for our safety.

Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted October 24, 2016 Speed......and if you can't monitor your own speed and abide by the speed limit then you end up over the rail!!! I find it funny that none of us like laws but how many of us abide by the speed limit? Why not monitor our own behavior instead of always relying on the "law" to fix the problem??? I play with the math on it all the time......like, what does 5mph faster than the speed limit really do for you as far as getting there faster?......5 minutes???5 miles? What I hate worse than anything is getting passed on a double line......that does put me into pissed off mode!!! Idiots!
mattys281 Report post Posted October 24, 2016 Not to mention the fact that the change from 65-75mph = about a 10-15% reduction in fuel mileage. At least on my vehicles... But gas is cheap for the moment, so we can all drive like Jeff Gordon!
Guest akaspecials Report post Posted October 24, 2016 Too many people on too narrow of roadway. Too many distracted drivers. Too many people that don't understand "drive right, pass left". Too many people that get frustrated at the aforementioned group and rage around them.I think if you're at fault for a wreck that snarls traffic your license should be revoked for a year. But gas is cheap for the moment, so we can all drive like Jeff Gordon! I'm driving an F350 6.0L with nearly 300000 miles on it. I drive like granny going to church. It's like driving on eggshells. Ironically, the only time I think I've ever stomped on the accelerator is at emissions testing.

mattys281 Report post Posted October 25, 2016 Not to mention the idiots in the big rigs they are supposed to be professional drivers. Ya right maybe back in the day,not so much now!! About 10 years ago I was about to leave for my first ever elk hunt when my live-in GF called to say good bye on her way from Cottonwood up to Flag. She's babbling away about her work day or something and stops in the middle and goes, "Ohh, my god! what's this guy doing?! Ohh my God!!..... " Static noises, weird sounds on the phone and the call disconnects. I must've called her back about 20 times before finally a stranger answered her phone and asks if it's Matt? And then tells me she'd just rolled her car into the ditch and they were loading her in the ambulance. Friggin big rig started swerving around in it's lane and than came over right on top of her as she was passing. she wen't off onto the shoulder to avoid making contact, lost control and ended up in the ditch. Trucker never stopped and was never tracked down. She got banged up a bit but ended up being fine. My elk hunt never recovered though...

Man that's horrible can't imagine glad she is ok most don't survive when it comes to tangling with a big rig. These guys are outta control as much as I'm not for new laws and such they should be restricted to the right lane only, and run reduced speeds. IMO
