stanley Report post Posted July 29, 2017 Would you guys recommend this hunt over an antlered hunt for a first time kid? My middle boy will be old enough for his first hunt next year. Personally, I would recommend this hunt for a first timer, second timer, third, whatever..... This hunt is flat-out, FUN!! We spent many great times up there with my three kids (all 18+ now), and friend's kids. Just an amazing time! S.

HyNoon Report post Posted August 2, 2017 Yes I think this is a great starter hunt for first time tag holders, great confidence builder like said before. My boy had it last year. We had a blast.

IA Born Report post Posted August 2, 2017 I fell in love with this hunt when I took my daughter up 3 years ago this coming October and then the next October a year later. She tagged out opening afternoon both hunts and it was literally deer everywhere. If you get busted on a stalk, give it 15-20 minutes and you'll be in deer again. My son has said he wants this hunt for his first deer tag and I have no problem. Its an absolutely great confidence builder for a first-time hunter. You can always throw the .22s in and squirrel hunt after you've filled your deer tag. Due to some shifting (increasing) responsibilities at work, I may very well be up working over the weekend of the youth hunt. If so, I hope to run into and congratulate many of you and talk conservation!
1uglydude Report post Posted August 3, 2017 Did you get the second or first hunt , cause the second hunt can take a couple days. Really? That drastic of a difference in a month? No...it's still very easy. In fact, it's easier in some ways because by the late hunt they have usually moved west down into the more open country so you can see them easier. The only people I have seen have challenges on the second hunt are those people who are looking for deer up on top--where they are used to hunting on the earlier hunt.
