Wall tent stove?

I'm going to get a stove for my 14x16 wall tent! I'm currently looking at the alpine stove from camp chef. I would love to hear everyone's experience with wall tent stoves.

I'll be truck camping so weight doesn't matter to much I also want to keep it in the $200-300 range.

I have a 14x16 and use the alpine camp chef. It works great. Last time I checked Amazon had it for $200 with free shipping

I've got the same one and use it in my 12x20. I also have the water heater attachment. Works well.

I have used that Camp Chef stove and its a good one but I much prefer the 4 Dog Style stoves with a baffle in the firebox that prevents flame and embers from shooting straight up through the pipe. All that stuff plus other gasses and what not more fully combust in a baffled stove. That and the better seals makes for a much more efficient and easier to control stove. Good Luck!

OZ31P and Fathead what kind of burn time are you getting out of the camp chef?

I have read alot of good things about the 4 dog stoves! I'm just on the fence if it's worth an extra $200 if im only going to use it 2-3 times a year. Maybe I cam find a used one.

I can load mine up before going to sleep and I only get up once or twice to add more.

I have a 14x16 wall tent and a couple of years ago we got the kni-co Denali Stove absolutely love it . I load it up at night and go to sleep and wake up warm it cost a little more but its worth it !

I have the Camp Chef stove and it works just fine, fill it up and adjust the inline damper or the the one on the front of the stove. If you want more spark protection you may try a spark arrestor from the wall tent shop, I have dealt with them in the past and they are GTG.

I normally stoke it right before bed. It's still warm in the morning . But some one almost always wakes to use the bath room .they just throw a few more logs in. I also use a thermal fan. It run off the stoves heat and circulates air.

 

For spark arrest I have a rain cap. Looks similar to what would be on a water heater exauhst on your home. Also I burn 100% hard woods( mesquite eucalyptus ) long burns low sparks high heat.

You guys are awesome with all the info and tips!!! I'm leaning towards the camp chef for the price and easy shipping on amazon.

 

Does anyone run their stove pipe out the sidewall? If so any suggestions on how to support it from the outside and if I should run one or two elbows?
