COOSEFAN Report post Posted September 7, 2007 Here's another buck from Mexico! This one is old and the mount is bad, but check out the webbing on the beams!!! He's got 32" of mass and also the right H4 is the largest I've ever measured! This buck fooled me on score and I was WAY off..........I got too excited about the mass I think! To hopefully make me feel better about being WAY off on my guess..........What do you guys think he gross scores? JIM>

The mass and frame on that critter is absolutely awesome and it got me all excited You defintely don't get enough credit for mass! Thanks guys for playin' along, and great job on the close guesses! desertsheep Report post Posted September 7, 2007 Great buck's you've been posting Jim. Are they off a ranch you will be hunting?. I would of still been happy with 118. It's tough to judge mass on any animal

EBB Report post Posted September 7, 2007 You'll notice above that I posted 119. I knew he wasn't that big, but I couldn't help myself from inflating my guess by 5/8". It's the fisherman in me! Given the chance I'd take him and tell folks he was 120! EBB
COOSEFAN Report post Posted September 8, 2007 Hey, at least I made you feel better Jim! I am a sucker for mass.... Can you post all the measurements? How long were those beams and tines? Amanda I'm sorry Amanda, I did not keep the paper I wrote the scores down on and I don't remember exactly. I want to say the beams were just over 19", but I'm guessing. I just remember it scored 118 2/8". I scored a ton of sheds and racks when down there and was just overwhelmed with the awesome bucks! Jason......Yeah these bucks came from our ranches. There are a couple racks and mounts of bucks that the owners or the cowboys actually killed, but the rest are pick-ups that the cowboys brought in. They don't get as excited as I do about the antlers and it only makes me wonder what all is laying out there on the ranches just waitin' for me to go find! With the lack of deer killed on these ranches, I only had the sheds and racks to go off of to get an idea on the quality of deer on the ranch. It was amazing to see how strong the genetics were when you have a pile of sheds collected from the same ranch! It was obvious that for some reason most of the bucks have huge beams and are straight typical 3x3's. Even the bladed beams were very common and huge G3's on the older bucks. I can't wait to get back down this winter to see what we got! Thanks guys. JIM>
