late season epiphany

Recommended Posts

for 30 years or more i have been less than shy about what i consider the best flavors to ever pass my tonsils. debatable? hardly.

fresh on the boat tuna sashimi was always tied with camp fresh gambel quail breast sauteed in bacon drippings.

but as my age makes me more of a bait fisherman and dirt farmer instead of hunter gatherer adventurer i have found another item that brings a tear to my eye.

a big, fresh-of-the-day anaheim chili roasted perfectly, peeled, held by the stem and eaten warm seeds and all causes this fat mans eyes to roll back in his head.

i hit a home run a few days ago by accident. had a bunch of huge pablanos freshly roasted and nothing to make a relleno from. since dad was an okie and a SEABee i have always had to make anything with nothing and it still had to be better than store-bought. baked pablanos stuffed with sour cream macaroni and cheese went yard. omg.

one of the senior softball wives made a comment the other day that made me wonder how some people even get to be seniors. she said how good tofu is for breakfast and lunch. after rolling my eyes i asked what flavor? she replied 'covered with just a little red pepper flavored hummus'.

the german lady sitting next to her just about fell out of her chair laughing and i had to go to the bathroom quickly.

sh it on a shingle is far better than that concoction...............
