Cell4soul Report post Posted September 19, 2016 Went out shooting with Tac (Terry) this weekend to learn my dope at various distances. We started at 200 and worked out in 100 yard increments. My goal was to verify MOA out to 600 as I feel this will be my effective hunting range. My Strelok app was dead on out to 600. I didn't measure groups at 600, but they appeared to be 3" or less. I was really happy with the results. After verifying to 600, we took the rifles a little further ending up at 850 yards. My Strelok app wasn't accurate after 600 yards. The app called for 14.5 MOA at 700, I only had to dial 13.5 MOA. We went to 850 yards and the app called for 19.87 MOA, I dialed at 18.5 MOA. My scope ran out of room at 18.5 MOA, so if I start shooting further I will have to get a 20 MOA rail. I will probably do this after my Wyoming hunt and 36B post Thanksgiving hunt. Big thanks to Terry for taking me out. The following pics are 2 shots from my 6.5 Creedmoor and Terrry's 338 Lapua at 850 yards. I am pretty sure the 2 larger splatters (furthest left) are his .338 Lapua. The smaller splatters (high at the neck and right/low of center) are my Creedmoor. Just paint a line across the middle of the target. It helps me focus more than just a dot and really helps to show high and low impacts across the target. What rifle are you shooting? Just paint a line across the middle of the target. It helps me focus more than just a dot and really helps to show high and low impacts across the target. What rifle are you shooting? Viper Report post Posted September 21, 2016 My buddy and I came to that same realization this weekend as well. He runs out of turret adjustment around 650 yards. He will need the 20 moa rail as well. He is shooting a brand new Savage 111 LRH in 6.5 x 284 Norma with a Vortex HS-T 4 - 16 x 44. I told him it will be a perpetual learning and tweeking process. Viper Report post Posted September 21, 2016 I was using Strelok too, for theoretical distances on my Burris Ballistic plex reticles. It was quite a bit off from what I actually shot. I then referred to the Burris website ballistic calculator, specific to that reticle. It was dead nuts on. Not sure what data I am missing, or have wrong, to get the result I did with Strelok. I shot a 5" group at 500 yards with my Rem 700 .270 and Burris 4.5-14x42...Ballistic plex reticles...no turrets.
