muley Report post Posted September 5, 2007 It sounds like its official, at the end of this year you will have to start putting in for Archery Deer, and its archery or rifle, no second trys. I'm happy, less yahoos running around with bows, inless they are serious...
tjhunt2 Report post Posted September 5, 2007 Talking with the Game Warden this last couple of weeks, he told me about the same thing. Not quite sure if it's next year or the year after. I'm going to have to stick with the bow. It's not as noisy during the season and I can get some rest in my ground blind. He said there are just as many bow kills as rifle kills in 22 and I still can't figure out how all this makes any sense for the change. What do some of you think about it all? I'm happy, less yahoos running around with bows, inless they are serious... Meaning you can't have an archery tag AND a rifle tag? It's only one or the other? Or is some of their reasoning to stop those from actually filling both tags?
donniedent Report post Posted September 5, 2007 From what I heard they are only going to a draw in a select few units. Unless they changed it again. These are the numbers I heard recently. These are projected numbers. These are the draw units: 1 - 200 tags 3A/3C - 150 tags 3B - 75 tags 7 - 500 tags 12A - 1850 tags 13A - 120 tags 13B - 120 tags January 2 week season instated: units 4AB, 8 & 9 .... not sure which 2 weeks December season cancelled: units 17A, 20A, 22, 23, 35A, 37A & 42. All the archery deer hunters that draw a permit for 12A, 13A & 13B can also buy over the counter buffalo and elk tags like the rifle hunters can. Now when they say Dec, cancelled they mean no Dec. hunt but open all of Jan.
Tines Report post Posted September 5, 2007 200 tags in unit 1, 500 tags in unit 7 and 2000+ tags up north? HA! That'll be interesting.

username Report post Posted September 5, 2007 you guys like it???? what a joke. we will see how you like it when you don't get drawn! " to many yahoos"??? are you one of those guys that think that you are the only one that deserves to be out hunting, and will support any restriction even ones that don't need to be in place just so you can limit others sucsess? get a life, if you don't like hunting around people get off the road!!! and if you enjoy hunting don't support crap that hurts all hunters!!! Granola isle 3 trees needing a hug right around the corner. WOW some of you are amazing!
m77 Report post Posted September 5, 2007 Take away the salt and bait and let those hunt deer with a bow that want to hunt. It's the only hunt left that isn't limited in this states ungodly rediculious draw system. Oh ya, leave those silly spy cameras at home also. Next you'll all be flying drones with infrared cameras and sensors. And I don't even hunt with a bow. But, LEAVE THE ARCHERY DEER SEASON OUT OF THE DRAW!!!!!!!!!! Next you'll all be flying drones with infrared cameras and sensors. And I don't even hunt with a bow. But, LEAVE THE ARCHERY DEER SEASON OUT OF THE DRAW!!!!!!!!!! Here's an even better idea. If you don't like bait, don't use it. If you don't like salt, don't use it. If you don't like "silly spy cams", don't use them. I don't like mechanical broadheads, therefore I don't use them, but I don't try and tell others not to. I don't like big, stinky, noisy diesel trucks, therefore, I don't drive one, but I don't tell others not to. I don't shoot doves, because I think they taste like poo, but I don't tell others not to. See the pattern? I agree that they should leave the archery hunts alone, and also let hunters choose the way they wish to hunt without more rules and regulations. There is no reason they cannot do it on a quota system like the OTC bear hunts.

I like it. what i would like and support is neither of you having a voice in any decisions that have to do with hunting. are either of you from California? and tell me why you want to limit your ability to be able to go out and hunt? you guys wouldn't be closet huggers would you? O i was just joshin, i don't mean and hope no offense was taken. take care

donniedent Report post Posted September 5, 2007 "I don't shoot doves, because I think they taste like poo, but I don't tell others not to." LMAO, DesertBull you are one funny character! I don't know how to feel about it. I hate it for the fact that its just another limit on the amout of time we can spend doing what we love. On the other hand, I am of the opinion that they DO need a draw on at least the Kiabab, if not a couple more. I also think there are more constructive and creative management schemes that would work better but we all know our commission is not known for that. The fact is... it sucks! But, its also a done deal, so now its time to sit down and figure out a way to make it work to your advantage. Donnie
