muledeerarea33? Report post Posted August 30, 2016 I've always bought O.E. Very rarely use aftermarket anything (I get good prices) but my 06 Tacoma with 160k has finally blown the factory bilsteins and needs some bushings. I don't want to go crazy but thinking a 1.5"-2" lift/leveling set up. Factory parts are less than a grand for struts, shocks, and control arm bushings but I figured I could get new front springs and struts with the rest aftermarket for around that price. Any experience with any? Thanks.
DUG Report post Posted August 30, 2016 Hard to beat Old Man Emu. You can buy them already set-up and ready to bolt in so you don't have to mess with a spring compressor. Look at Toytec Lifts website.
TexasHunter Report post Posted August 30, 2016 icon lifts are sick for Tacomas. I am sure it's gonna cost you more than factory parts though

SWDesertRat Report post Posted August 30, 2016 I guess ir depends on what you want to do with your Tacoma. On my Tacoma I did custom leaf springs from Alcan and Sway A Ways coilovers up front. Some mentioned Old Man Emus, these are a good better than OEM route if you don't want to customize the amount of weight or lift. I recently purchased ToyTech for my Tundra. I've been happy with them so far, not squishy, rides smooth off and on road and gave me 2.5" in lift. Sky is the limit, your budget and wants will help. I will tell you that once you upgrade your OEM Bilsteins, you'll wish you'd done it sooner. I still run Bilsteins on the rear but heavier duty than the OEM. Norteno Report post Posted August 30, 2016 I'm in the same boat. I think I'm buying this with AAL so I don't sag when towing. https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyota-tacoma/2005-2015/bilstein-adjustable-lift-kit-with-5100-shocks/?gclid=CPzvipDF6M4CFYdcfgod0moKyQ
WampusCat Report post Posted August 30, 2016 I love my Tacoma but quickly realized the rear leaf packs weren't up to handling half of what I do regularly. heck it was squatting with my fiberglass cap on the bed. A while back I searched for a long time and finally settled on Old Man Emu 886 coils up front with Camburg UCA's to get the alignment specs I wanted. Like someone mentioned, I paid a few bucks more to have them assembled before shipping so i didn't have to fool with a spring compressor. Also snatched the sway-bar out of there. In the rear I went with the Dakar leaf packs and increased weight carrying ability for sure. The 886 coils are pretty stout as I have a built bumper up front with the intention of a winch. I do NOT recommend them if you have a stock bumper and no winch. It does everything I want as long as I remind myself I'm not driving my old 3/4 ton. Been happy whether slam full of coolers for ice and camping gear or loaded down with steel running the the desert on a trapline. 3yrs and its still running strong and rides just the way I want. muledeerarea33? Report post Posted September 13, 2016 I ordered the bilsteins lift with toy tec springs. Adjustable from 1.5"-3" in the front and a 2" add a leaf in the rear. Now I'm waiting on a call back from the Toyota dealer about the recall/TSB on the rear springs. I haven't been told what the actual fix is? If it's new springs then I asked if they'd put my add a leaf back on. They'll call me back lol.

Lol do they have to break and bust the gas tank before you can get them? Tucson Toyota dealers are bad with sharing info dealer to dealer. I'm still working with the letter that says my springs break and break my tank then spark on the asphalt and kill everyone!! Or something like that lol. Waiting on the "fix" letter to come in, or a call back. What ever happens first.

muledeerarea33? Report post Posted September 15, 2016 So my suspension kit shipped today. Haven't been driving it much since I know the front struts are bad. Oh and that pesky little rear spring recall that can break, puncture your gas tank and blow up lol!! Either way, got the springs for the recall ordered (6 weeks out they say) driving home tonight my left front strut snaps at the eyelet! I knew they were done but never saw that coming. Thank god for loaner cars at work. I guess I'll put the front on, go to the dealer for the rear, then back to work to put my add a leaf in. First world problems!
