billrquimby Report post Posted September 2, 2007 I have an archery bull elk tag in 4A. Woundering if the elk are bugling yet. My wife heard bugle from our back door of our cabin at first light two weeks ago when she took our dog outside to relieve himself. On Thursday, Bill Mattausch and I were on the Apache Reservation/Apache Sitgreaves Forest border watching a very good bull with about 20 cows at sundown. It bugled only once in the 30 minutes we were there. There were a couple of other bulls around, but they didn't seem to be interested in a group of 15 unattended cows near them. I think the rut hasn't really started, at least around Greer. Bill Quimby

Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted September 3, 2007 We were glassing a canyon on Friday night that had three bulls bugling back and forth... heard cows calling and they had one of the bugling bulls with them... but never got a look at him. We watched a Wicked non-typ bull bugle his way down toward them in the bottom. It's coming.... all the bulls that I have been watching have left there winter grounds for the rutting grounds. Gonna fun real soon!!! Good luck archery bull hunters!!!! Lucky SOB's!!!
