COOSEFAN Report post Posted September 2, 2007 Hey guys, I've ran through the past weeks topics and posts as much as I could and was excited to see some guys were lucky enough to kill some great critters.......congrats to all of ya! Mexico was an incredible adventure and the weather was terrible! The humidity and heat combined made it very bad to be in the outdoors! We sat around in our underwears in the middle of the day and just had sweat pouring off us. OH.......and there are TARANTULAS EVERYWHERE!!!!! I bet I saw 40 or more of them 8-legged freaks.....and they were usually on or around the ranch houses! My buddies had a TON of fun at my expense due to my "screaming like a girl" everytime I bumped into yet ANOTHER Tarantula!!! Oh well...it was all good I will do a little write up later, but I wanted to share this buck with ya first as it was my favorite! This buck was killed on one of our ranches 2 years ago by the owner and he didn't realize how special it was at least not until he saw my reaction to it! He unfortunately just cut the antlers off instead of skull capping it, but it's still a dandy! I was low on my initial score guess because he has very long beams, but I gave him a 13" inside spread and scored him at --------" gross Just for the fun of it, what would be your guess? matthewp45 Report post Posted September 2, 2007 That is a beaut I guess 116 and change.
cramerhunts Report post Posted September 2, 2007 That is a beautiful buck with extremely long tines all the way through so I am going to have to say 124-128" but no matter the score what a toad! I bet that had to hurt seeing those just cut off the skull plate! Phil
COOSEFAN Report post Posted September 2, 2007 Just for size reference..........the G2 on the bucks right antler is 10 3/8" long! Longest G2 I've ever taped......also that and the beam lengths are the only measurements I can remember exactly aside from the total gross score. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 2, 2007 Around 123-125 would be my guess. It reminds me a lot of the one my friend Beth got last year in Mexico. Wow. that is a GREAT buck. Geez.... Amanda

Amanda Amanda, I did a quick search for Beth's buck but did not find it. Could you repost the pic? I do not remember hers being that big. Thanks, Mike
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 2, 2007 It wasn't quite that big, the biggest g-2 was "only" 9 5/8, but it was big. Green score was around 120 if I remember right. I probably forgot to post it in the Mexico section, but you can find pics in the hunt story I wrote up last year about our hunt. And it's in the latest Coues Deer Celebration videos. That pic I used there in that video is the one that I think shows it as similar to this buck. But this one looks larger and has the kicker on it. I didn't add up the score on this Mexico buck, just went with my gut. So I could be way off Amanda

COOSEFAN Report post Posted September 3, 2007 Alright.........122 2/8" I always go less on spread to be fair and this buck is probably more like 14" wide, so he may have been 123 and change.....but who cares...what a stud typical!!! There were quite a few sheds on this ranch that had the same characteristics and size of this buck.......pretty exciting! JIM>
