azpackhorse Report post Posted September 1, 2007 Wade, I was in your same shoes just a few weeks ago, I am by no means any kind of trailcam expert but the approach I took was to buy a cheaper camera (Moultrie D-40) and give it a try, work out any details as far as setup and placement. I am now totally and hopelessly addicted to this trailcam stuff and already looking to upgrade to a better camera. The Moultrie seems to be working well but I am getting quite a few shots of nothing which leads me to believe that the reaction time is a little slow. Good luck and most of all have fun! GameHauler Report post Posted September 2, 2007 One thing is the ability to zoom in on your pictures and see what you are not seeing that set off the camera. I really want 200 MP cameras so I can tell you how many nose hairs that buck has at 50 yards from the camera. The more you play with them the worse it is You just want better and better cams but, Crap with all the cams being stollen who can afford to put a $500.00 cam out their? I'm talking INSTANT transfer of pictures to your email or phone Just bought 2 new pair of boots so maybe I can get FURTHER back so no one finds my cams. Trail cams are as much fun as hunting..... Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted September 4, 2007 Buy the Moultree with the 6-D batteries!!!!! They really do last 60 days in the field.... Just checked mine after 32 days and it was 55% battery life and decent pics for a 100 bucks!! PS: They work really well in a "bear box".... Good Luck! I have been totally pleased, got lots of pictures, use a SD card so I can go in and exchange cards, the camera stands up to weather, and if someone steals it, I have 99.00 into it..........may be a good starting point for you..........Allen Taylor.......
