3 for 3

Recommended Posts

Pretty satisfied this year to say the least. We went 3 for 3 in 1 & 1/2 days.

We went really high this year and my dad was struggling with the elevation change. I let him sleep in after a rough night. I figured enjoyable memories are more important than filling our tags. Turns out- it worked out for the best. He woke up feeling better and took a 2pt in the first hour at 11am.

We dressed, cleaned, butchered ate a late lunch. We then left camp and a couple hours into the afternoon I had filled my tag with my biggest Mulie yet (a 4x4). That night my dad didn't sleep well again so we got out of camp late again to let him sleep. 2 hours later my brother had his 2pt on the ground and in the ice chest. We couldn't feel more blessed not to just have all tagged out so quickly but we did it as a family and we all agree that this hunt was one of our most memorable. Just being with my father and my brother felt nostalgic. The area we were hunting we had not been in for over 10 years and the last time we were my grandfather was there (he passed in June).

Before we left we took a homemade ham sandwich (my grandfathers favorite) and left it on a stump in his favorite hunting spot as a way of saying goodbye. Needless to say it was a short hunt we will never forget. I didn't take a lot a pics but I got one during a stalk and 2 of the deer.

2rd pic was taken at less than 10 yards in an Aspen thicket. Zoom in and in the center of the pic you can see 2 ears as the buck is bedded. It took some skill but my bro dropped it with a spine tap through the neck. I was pretty proud of the guy.

Congrats to you guys way to get it done. The sandwich to gramps is a great way to remember him!!

I am heading out tomorrow to meet up with my dad for a week in the pines, hope we can have success.

My pops had a heart attack in December & I wasn't sure if he was gonna be ready this year, but he

lost 45lbs since dec. & is eating right so he is ready to go. Memories with family are priceless!!
