PseAZ Report post Posted August 24, 2016 Yea my Dad had the same tag I got Last year, They came in hot and heavy for 2 days then a storm rolled in and they shut up for almost 5 days. Hoping the Storm that's looking to hit a few days before the opener sets it up for them and it stays nice this year. Wishful Thinking none the less. Im Stoked 1st elk tag since I was in Jr high almost 30 now.
Alpinebullwinkle Report post Posted August 25, 2016 From what I have seen and experienced so far in the woods the elk are more vocal earlier this year. I suspect due to the cooler than normal weather in the mountains. On the other hand, the horn rubbing seems a week behind which I suspect might be due to the dryer than usual spring we had. Horn quality seems average at best. As for the upcoming rut?? Who knows. Every year seems to hold some surprises and learnings for me. Good luck elk hunters!!
