Kaibab and meat processing/taxidermy suggestions

Recommended Posts

I drew a Kaibab tag for the first time this year. If I happen to be successful does anyone have any suggestions for a good place to take my deer for processing/taxidermy in the area? I was thinking there might be something good nearby in Fredonia/Kanab. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Look up Lacorti's Custom Butchering. They don't have a website that I know of, but you can find their phone number online to contact him. He's done deer, elk, pigs, and beef for me. He's great at it, and an honest guy to deal with. Plus he's located in Fredonia which is a just a short drive from Jacobs Lake. If you want to drive into Page, Az, you can take your deer to Stix. They do pretty good work there as well. One thing to remember for both butchers, is to clean your animal before you bring it to them. They do NOT want hair in their coolers. So make sure to skin you deer and wash it well before taking it to them, or they'll turn you away.

Edit: These two I listed are butchers only. I'm not sure who would be a good taxidermist in the area.

If your headed back to the valley, I would take it to Mount N View to be mounted. The guys up there do awesome work. They've done a lot of work for the company I work for. I've also had them mount a Coues Buck and they are currently doing another one for me now. Hopefully I'll be brining them a nice Muley on my way back from the Kaibab too.post-2785-0-70214200-1471391822_thumb.jpeg

go to lacorts, they are in fredona. no extra charge for adding beef fat. after you see the beef cuts in there shop you may forget about your deer. I've always done it myself but had to do something different last year. all I can say is perfect....

Lol. Don't eat their jerky that they make either. My dad bought a bag once passing through, and ended up having my brothers deer and his deer 2 years ago turned ALL into jerky there. It's so good, but it doesn't last very long.

Anyone know if there is a taxidermy place as well in Fedonia/Kanab? If I'm successful I'd like to preserve the velvet and such and know it'll need to get taken care of ASAP.
