bvanetten Report post Posted August 12, 2016 Oldest boy caught a 16 lb Flathead and a monster gill a couple of weeks ago. With all the bait in this lake you would think there would be more large flathead caught out of Canyon. I'm gonna figure this lake out....

You know you got a big gill when you can lip it like a largemouth. 16 lber is a baby. Anyone have pics of big flatheads out of Canyon?

CatfishKev Report post Posted August 14, 2016 Congrats. Always cool seing kids hook into a flathead. And in today's day and age I totally get why your kids face is blocked out. It sucks that a parent always has to consider worse case scenario. I get pissed when I see Little kids walking home from school or to the store by themselves. Makes me wanna grab and shake the sh** outta some pos parents.

SwampMafia Report post Posted August 15, 2016 He tagged it and released it. eat the small ones and put the big boys back to catch again. What part of the lake did they fish? I was out Friday night as well. Been trying to go out every other week. Can't seem to get dialed in on the big boys. Only 10-15 pounders lately. Heading back out to Bart on Tuesday. Carp or bluegill? HuntHarder Report post Posted August 16, 2016 Nice photo's. That 53 lber is a beast. I used to have the best luck using bluegill over carp, but I do not really think it matters. We used to do really well with 3 red shiner minnows stacked on one hook. When the minnows were big and fat, we knew we were in for a good night. I need to get back into it, I remember running the sein net up rapids and filling our minnow buckets that way.
