Grayboe stocks......a Mcmillan for less $$$.

Recommended Posts

Grayboe Stocks is a newer company founded by Ryan Mcmillan (cofounder of Mcmillan Firearms Manufacturing) and Gregg Arthur that make fiberglass stocks using injection molding. They are sold on Gunstox.com and Red Hawk Rifles and apparently are licensed and approved by Mcmillan to produce the "Renegade" which is an A5 clone. They also have a ton of Mcmillan liquidation stocks for sale too. They only have 3 styles right now and inlet for Remington 700's only, but state that more will be added. They are getting good reviews and seem to hold up to the Mcmillan standard.

They need to offer more than just Rem 700.

Well that is what the company is built on and is overall the most accurate action. There is a reason every custom action maker is a variation of it.

the 700 is the easiest to do machine work to. That's why it's so popular. Easy to work on lead to more aftermarket parts, lead to more sales, lead to more popular. Most accurate action it's not. Accurate as the rest, yes.

Lol okay boys. Do you want to look up records on f class and bench rest all time? ALL custom actions are a 700 variant. There are no comp shooters using a sako, browning, or winchester custom. The rest are 700 copies yes the Salvage and ruger were copied from the 700. Actually the 721.

I have a FN barreled action that I may or may not have slept with leading up to a hunt. It shoots better than anyone I've put behind it. Does that count?

AZKiller and the 700 is copied from the original mauser action. The 700 in and of itself is one of the least accurate actions, however for years it was the easiest most available action to modify. A modified 700 action can be very accurate, but so can any modified action, but others are built better to begin with and are much harder to work on.

Wow, tough crowd. Didn't know this would turn into an action debate. For a new company the Remington 700 inlet is the wise choice....it's the most popular. If you go to the Gunstox website it says "New actions and barrel contours are continually being added on a regularly scheduled basis. If you desire a specific action or barrel contour, please contact us." It sounds like they may be able to inlet for other actions but are focusing on the 700's to sell immediately. Being a Mcmillan, and licensed to produce A5 clones...I imagine they have all the inlet info they need.

I just emailed them asking about a Tikka inlet. Ill post their response when I get it.

Well, guess I was wrong....just got a response.

Chris,

Thank you for you interest. Grayboe is planning on offering the Tikka in the future, however, the nature of the production process does not allow for customization. It will be some time before the expansion of the current line due to manufacturing and tooling constraints. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Best Regards,

Ladd Hunter

Actually the winchester was copied from the mauser. And as an aerospace machinist for the last 23 years and someone who has worked on many actions and built custom actions for myself I will respectfully disagree. Good luck all.
