Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 7, 2016 I recently picked up a walnut stocked Ruger 10/22 for plinking, and thus needed a scope. Decided to try one of the Cabelas rimfire specific scope since it had hashes for drop. About 100 rounds later, the reticle had rotated about 25 degrees inside the scope (I checked and the scope had not rotated in the rings), and the top wire had broke in the center. On a previous 10/22. I had a $28 Bushnell 4x give up the reticle ghost, but a bottom of the line 4x Tasco lasted thousands of rounds. Guess the next scope to try may be a Leupold VX-1 2-7x rimfire.

cactusjack Report post Posted August 8, 2016 The Rimfire Leupold 2-7 is my favorite 22 scope, followed by the Nikon 2-7 P-Rimfire BDC 150.

elkaholic Report post Posted August 8, 2016 just a note - avoid used Shepherd scopes- no warranty from Shepherd as my used scope has flaws in the lense coating - spots quoted 250- 300 to fix i mentioned warranties from bushnell and vortex We have been designing scopes for other companies for 15 years. I can tell you that vortex scopes are made in factory number 5 in the Phillipines and cost $187.00US in a box out the door to vortex. Your paying $1300.00 for that scope here. If we had our scopes made in japan, or tiawan or china we would have the same warranty. Fact is when you buy those brands your sending jobs to those countries. Sure the warranty sounds great until you realize your buying 6 of them up front. The only company besides our in the US that can make thier own optics and products is Luepold, and they have the same warranty as us. Our profit margins are 1/5th of thos outsourcing guys, but if you buy a scope from us we will make sure it yours and working for life. Its part of the problem with this whole industry, we make all our optics and employee real technicians who we weducate and traing to have good paying jobs. We sell our scopes for a much more resonable price than anyone, with american glass and metals made by a japanese watch company. We considered putting our proces up as high as these guys getting scopes made in the phillipines and china and making it a lifetime warranty but then that would mean only people with a lot of money can afford them. The thing is that we have been making quality scopes that are made to last, our scopes have the highest resale value of any scope in the world, that means quality. The great thing about this nations is everyone can choose to buy american or choose to buy foriegn. We want to give people a reason to get back to buying american. I am sorry we cannot provide the warranty you would like but we are trying to make a great product. That's our deal for our customers, and they get no Chinese crap and get to support American small business from leupold -- With the Leupold Gold Ring Full Lifetime Guarantee, if your Leupold product doesn’t perform as promised, we will repair or replace it for free, whether you are the original owner or not—forever (excludes electronic components).
