Hoss50 Report post Posted August 7, 2016 I just upgraded to a larger pack from my tiny day pack. I am interested in what everyone is carrying in there gear while hunting. I have a Summit from Badlands. Harley
mattys281 Report post Posted August 7, 2016 Quite a list, really. And it varies by the type of hunting. For ambush hunting or day trips, its limited to what can be fit in or tied to a 1000 cubic inch fanny pack with shoulder straps on it. Knifes, sharpening stone, cord, large garbage bags, lunch, snacks, water, headlamp, spare batteries, some band aids, flint & mag block fire starter, camera, butt pad & jacket. If im glassing, I'll tie on a tripod and may or may not carry a set of big glass (depends on the area). If im doing an all day sit, I'll replace the tripod with a paperback book. PseAZ Report post Posted August 7, 2016 I'm running the Badlands 2200. I Love it so far had it almost 3 years now and haven't had any issues.
PelaPapas Report post Posted August 9, 2016 A day pack is my go-to. Badlands 2200 was the pack I was using but was a little bigger than I was needing. I learned that if I have the extra space in my day pack, I tend to try to fill it up with stuff that I don't need which = more weight. So I got myself a Kuiu 1850 and its been a perfect day pack. Just the right size and holds everything I need. Here is what I usually have in my pack... - Tripod - Vortex 15s - Headlamp w/extra batteries - Water Bladder - Skinning Knife - Lighter - GPS - Light Jacket - Food/snacks - Extra G19 mags in hip pouches (I know I'm forgetting something!) jim Report post Posted August 9, 2016 I use the 2200 most of the time. Just knives, basic first aid, 5 game bags, wipes, snacks and water. Basic rain gear if it looks bad weather wise. I carry the 2200 because I don't want to go back to the truck to get the bigger pack to get the first load of meat out.

Hoss50 Report post Posted August 9, 2016 The summit I got it probably on the too large side, but I want to do overnight trips or longer sometime. I usually carry to much stuff, that is kind of my MO. I am big though so a little extra weight isn't the worst thing. Right now I have packed: Fire starter stuff: Matches, fire tablets, mag stick, dryer lint, etc. Water Purification: Sawyer mini, iodine tabs First Aid: General first aid, Ace bandages, compression dressings, Inhaler Skinning knives Cordage: mule tape & 550 cord Emergency Rain Poncho Emergency Blanket Water bladder & extra water bottle Compass & GPS Extra Ammo: Pistol & Rifle Range Finder Light Jacket What do I need to add? Str8Shot Report post Posted August 9, 2016 I have found Frog Toggs a great light weight rain solution ... I carry similar to what you have Hoss I do always keep a small role of Duct tape and some zip ties (you never know when you may have to Mcgyver something)
Hoss50 Report post Posted August 9, 2016 The duct tape and zip ties are good ideas. I was going to put a little electrical tape in as well. I have put a lot of bandages on hands with gauze and electrical tape when I was building metal buildings.
