Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 6, 2016 Seems that the ptarmigan like this one rocky pass with a tarn in southwest Colorado. I see them every time I go there in summer. Also saw a hen with about four chicks. They sure had my GWP Rica's attention.

Tres Report post Posted August 6, 2016 any difference between that and a dusky gouse Yes there is a difference. I don't know if you can hunt the white tailed ptarmigan in Colorado. I think they may be endangered. Not sure though

Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 9, 2016 Tres, your comment made me check on the season. If I am up there on CO in late September to photograph fall colors, I should take a day to look with Rica and the 28 ga
Allforelk Report post Posted August 9, 2016 Red Rabbit, can I ask what part of Colo you are heading to in fall? I spent quite a few falls up there when I was younger. There are a couple spots in SW that always made me wish I had talent and a lense.
