Non-Typical Solutions

Boat/Motor transport help

Recommended Posts

Probably not a solution for you but I take my 15 horse off the boat and lay it in the back over the trailer wheels. Motor weighs 50 lbs or so and the day will come when I won't be able to pick it up and lay it down but so far this has worked.

I would say there are usually ways to pin the motor at the pivot point where it mounts to the transom. This still puts a lot of pressure on the transom. Maybe make a frame that still slides into a female on the back of the trailer and sits on the bottom of the boat but comes back far enough to have a standard support bar with the v in it. As long as you have some angle pcs coming from the frame up toward the back of the boat it should handle the weight. Still want to ha able to remove it though so you don't hit it when loading. Also it will be a pain to mount unde the boat but not too bad.

Exactly what I am worried about.....the day that I won't be able to heave that thing into my truck bed!!

Looks like I a going to have to get creative with some form of removable bracket???
