Snapshot Report post Posted August 26, 2007 Just more Illegals, smugglers and Border Patrol. We were down there last year and camped in Harshaw. Check out the canyons on the west side of the range Paloma, Provedencia etc. they run east to west and less activity than in some of the easier areas. Saw a nice bear in there as well, watched him for an hour as he walked right up a rugged road through the canyon. Saw a lot of bucks but nothing real big 85-90" was the biggest we saw but my cousin in law settled for a smaller 3 x 4.

hime Report post Posted August 29, 2007 I'll second the fact there are more illegals, smugglers, and BP. Last year we had daily helicopter searches over us. Spooked the deer more that I thought it might. Also ran into several groups of illegals. For these reasons I have opted not to hunt this area again, even though we have seen some huge deer in the mountains east of Paloma and Cumero Canyon area. Good luck! vml Report post Posted September 4, 2007 Scouted 35B didn't see any illegals or deer saw alot of elderly tourist, kids on quads, and some archery hunters off the main road about 2.5 miles. Its really green down there and water everywhere. Its not going to be an easy hunt, saw alot tracks, last time I hunted it took six days before I got an opportunity to shoot. Oh well its better than not hunting at all...later

ndaniel Report post Posted September 7, 2007 I hunted the unit for the first time last year and I don't see myself putting in for another. In my opinion that November tag is a great one. I was fortunate enough to tag out last year, we didn't have any issues with any illegals at all.

ndaniel Report post Posted September 11, 2007 Did not get drawn this year. I put in for the December hunt because I knew I wouldn't have time with for the November hunt. Been focusing on archery deer up north at this point but I'll be hunting down there for sure again next year.
