Talkalai Lake

Recommended Posts

Anyone been to Talkalai lately? Some renovations underway, plenty of shoreline fishing with Catfish and Bass doing good also some Crappie still being caught.

How is it for getting a boat to the launch? Can you launch a full size bass boat?

the 3rd pic down shows a little of the ramp, its not very wide but you probably could

The north ramp was cleared off last May, you could launch a Sherman Tank if you wanted ;)

Whats the safety factor now days? Use to in the past you better have enough friends along with you to stave off the natives or be packin. Vehicles vandalized while out fishing in your boat , etc. And no Game wardens or police presence around.

There have been a few regulars taking advantage of the fishing for the last 2 months or so, no reports of vandalism from them or others camped in the area, some high traffic during the middle of some days from locals swimming and Rangers do have a regular patrol in the area now as well.

If it wasn't such a long pull from kingman I would love to fish that lake again. It use to be a blast.

Thank You Dan for the encouraging reply , that is a great lake to fish. Have been catching crappie and catfish out of san carlos lake here lately. Will make a trip over to talkalai maybe this weekend.

Wow, that looks so much different! Thanks for the headsup and glad the rangers are doing more patrolling there. It was pretty risky around there for many years.

Went yesterday. Dad and I was the only ones on the lake . One truck came in just before dark. A native family that my Dad new. Beautiful day. Really overgrown now. Dang good fishing. Caught both Bass and Crappie. Soooo peaceful. Who EVER has a entire lake to themselves all day. 👍😁

Yeah, but it’s still the locals lake and I got yelled at by a drunk native a few months ago. So anyone that goes should be aware that there can be confrontation.
