Mog Report post Posted July 16, 2016 While we are waiting for results I am curious to know what flashlight everyone is using for the hike in to your glassing spot. Are you big on using a red lens so as not to spook animals (not even sure if this is legit or not). I enjoy checking out new flashlights especially if they are affordable so let me know what your go to is. I have used the following: http://www.ledlenserusa.com/t2qc-462.html#start=14 I like this light but feel like the red light is too bright. https://coastportland.com/product/px20/ Have also used this coast light (can get at Lowe's and many other hardware stores). I don't like how you can't tell the difference between the white and red light buttons especially with gloves. Also don't like the click noise it makes when turning on, always trying to be as quiet as possible. I am not a huge fan of headlamps for the morning hike in, I don't like to inadvertantly shine light in a direction that I don't mean to. Are there other good ones I'm missing? Guest oneshot Report post Posted July 16, 2016 While i carry a couple of small flashlights, older mini-mags, I don't really use them much for the hike-in. If I do use a light, it is cupped in my hand to defuse the light... Dispise the new LED lights, they throw a strange, to my eyes, blue'ish glow thats kinda disruptive to depth perception and they suk for blood-trailing(for my eyes)... PRDATR Report post Posted July 16, 2016 I used a Fenix PD35 on low for hiking in and also have one of their headlamps. Great products.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted July 16, 2016 I have a Fenix head lamp that I really like too. Spot and flood settings. Although, the head band is a little small, it's a good light.

mfernaz Report post Posted August 6, 2016 I just got a black diamond head lamp. Haven't used it in the field but I'm my backyard looking for scorpions. It pretty cool, has a main beam, close proximity, and a red. All led, beam lamp and close prox led can be used separate as well as together. Has a pulse setting for all, and each all have a dim setting. I thought for 25 bucks right now at Cabelas would try it out. I think it will be a good asset to my gear. http://www.cabelas.com/product/black-diamond-reg-cosmo-headlamp/2237145.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dblack%2Bdiamond%2Bheadlamp%26x%3D10%26y%3D6%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%252BProducts&Ntt=black+diamond+headlamp
