GLASSING CHAIR OPINION

Recommended Posts

I have the tall tripods, I can stand longer than trying to find that perfect spot in the chair. I find my self slouching in chairs or sitting. Back starts hurting. If I'm by the truck I'll use chairs from time to time

i HATE sitting and glassing. maybe its cuz i sit on rocks. its always a pain getting the binos right.

I was at Sportsman's today and saw a little pad made by Browning that was basically a 12 by 12 self-inflating air pad. It was really nice. If somebody didn't just steal $500 from my bank account I would have bought it but as of now that dispute has not been handled so I had to leave it. It was really light and rolled up super tight.

Unless you're sitting on the beach in RP or SD I would advise against an inflatable one. The place we glassed from yesterday was a ridge and very little cactus but the pad I was using had the bottom covered with thorns and goat heads. I had to take a stick and scrape them all off.

I've tried a lot of chairs and keep going back to a pad, unless I'm near the truck/quad. I will check out the options mentioned above...always looking. The key to sitting on the ground/pad that's easier on your back, is keep your legs lower than your butt. Like on a downhill slope, on a rock or log, etc... makes a big difference.

Look into the Crazy Creek chairs for back support. I have the original, which I referenced in my earlier post. Looks like they have a few other variations out now, including one with a higher back for even more support.

Check out the Roll-a-Chair (REI in Tempe). 4 legs instead of 3, STURDY (supports 250 lbs), foldable back. Best I've found for glassing ...
