It's not a phx thing it's an Arizona thing. There are a few good people here but they are the minority in AZ. Lived here my whole life and it seems to get worse.

All big cities suck. People are too busy to pay any consideration to anyone else.

My family moved to Prescott Valley, Az. from Santee, ca. (small town near San Diego) in 1991 when I was 13 y.o. At that point, P.V. was still a little hill-billy town in the middle of the prairie. No sidewalks, only 2 paved roads in town. My brothers & I couldn't believe how people acted. Everyone waving to you and wanting to talk to you and stuff.... WEIRD! And when you were walking down the side of the road, people coming up behind you would veer way over to the other side of the road to go around you, and then wave as they passed.

At the time, we though our parents moved us to some backwoods town full of half wits, but now that I'm all growed-up and have been living in the arm-pit of heck (aka Phoenix) for many years, I realize it was the best place in the world at that time. Lots of hunting, hiking, fishing... we'd ride our bikes out of town to the fields with .22's slung over our back and nobody ever said any more than 'you boys be careful wiht those'.

Hopefully, when I get a little closer to retirement, I'll be able to find some hill-billy town like that were people are still nice to each other.

Born and raised in Arizona. People here have always been friendly and helpful. It's just within the past 30 years or so as the out of state transplants have moved in and changed the attitude of this state.

When I run into rude people, I just smile and wish them a great day.

Quick story: Way before cell phones. Years ago, I'd say '78, my family and I where heading south on I-17 heading to Phoenix. Our vehicle broke down north of Camp Verde. Family of 7 stuck on the side of the road. Shortly, an old beat up Ford pulls up and a very nice old man stepped out to help us. He was from Cornville. He got things rolling and actually followed us all the way to the Camp Verde turnoff to make sure we were alright. He exited and I never saw that man again.

I was like 9 years old and still remember that funny, "crazy" dude! :)

Anyways....just rambling, but many here are really good people. We just see or hear about the bad.

I love Arizona. I could care less what an article says about us. I know we are a kind and helpful bunch of folks.

Come here from Montana. My first impression of Arizona is "what is wrong with all these bitter people?". Self serving and just plain rude. Not the smile and wave world I came from. I guess I'll leave it that. Love the landscape.

I'd go back in a heartbeat if that was an option. I will some day.

Edit: Let me adjust a little, once people accept you around here they become as friendly as folk anywhere.

People are rude in big cities, it is because when the population gets too crowded people get more irritable. This country is already well past the carrying capacity. Clear proof that socialism does not work. Obama/Clinton want to bring more people into our already overcrowded country. It will set the stage for communism.

It has been recognized and written about by many scientists from different fields that there are too many people on the planet. The problem is that nobody wants to volunteer to leave.

As for bringing more people in, I think the main reason you'll never seen a restructuring to immigration or any kind of population control laws has a lot more to do with wall street than it does Washington. The last thing people in the business of selling goods and services want is to see their market of prospective customers be reduced. Its all about gdp. If you cant export it, then you have to find a way to sell more domestically, and everyone knows we're not good at exporting. Hence we need more people to come here and buy our nike shoes, drink our starbucks coffees, and drive our ford trucks.

Corporations are the puppet master, always have been and always will be.

The list was probably made by some Liberal who got their feelings hurt by Arizona.

Came into say this. Or a chump still butt hurt over sb1070.

People in AZ probably do seem rude if you're from the east coast or something. Thats cuz we don't want to listen to obnoxious bull crap.
