sherman Report post Posted July 2, 2016 So my dad got an elk tag this year and needed some 300 wm loaded. He brings me the bullets and powder. So far it all seems good but when I open the bullets I notice they are not pointed like all the other horandy sst bullets. At the bottom of the label it says 300 savage the load data for them is the same when I look up the 300 savage. Can I load these for a wm and be safe
DesertBull Report post Posted July 2, 2016 That bullet was deseignec specifically for the 300 savage shorter neck. If you want to shoot the SST in the win mag I would use the 180 grain.
sherman Report post Posted July 2, 2016 Thanks I would use a heavier bullet but it is the old mans and he is stuck in his ways
metau Report post Posted July 2, 2016 Can you load them safely? Yes. They just won't fly as well as the regular 150gr SST's(.415 bc vs. .370 bc). I'd just tell him that he snagged the wrong box by accident and that you'll take care of it.
sherman Report post Posted July 2, 2016 Well I told him already he ended up with two boxes. So is anyone in need of 2 boxes of bullets make an offer
